Lightfair Parent Company Expands Into Central Asia With New Show

Messe Frankfurt 800

Messe Frankfurt – which organizes renowned lighting events such as Light + Building and recently Lightfair – is expanding its portfolio in the Central Asian market with the debut of the Intelligent Building Expo 2026, a technical trade fair to be held in Uzbekistan. The new trade fair will take place in Tashkent May 20 and 22. The product areas covered include heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water supply, lighting and building automation, security technology, and IT security.

Wolfgang Marzin, President & CEO of Messe Frankfurt, noted, “With our strong trade fair brands Light + Building, ISH and Intersec, Messe Frankfurt has the leading events relating to integrated and smart building technology, security technology and fire protection in its portfolio. We are very pleased that the Intelligent Building Expo will now allow us to bring together selected product areas from all three of these trade fairs. The new format gives us the opportunity to meet the needs of the region and to expand our expertise in Central Asia.”

The Intelligent Building Expo is a platform for the future of urban infrastructure — from efficient climate and water management systems to state-of-the-art lighting and security technology. As a professional meeting point for all sector participants, it is geared towards manufacturers, project developers, architects, engineers and representatives of government, associations and institutions. This is the eighth specialist event that Messe Frankfurt is organising in Uzbekistan, after Automechanika Tashkent, Comtrux Tashkent, Scalex Tashkent, Heimtextil Uzbekistan, Texworld Tashkent, Apparel Sourcing Tashkent and Beautyworld Central Asia.

As part of the business expansion, Messe Frankfurt is working closely together with its longstanding partner Business Media Central Asia (BMCA). An experienced organizer in the region, BMCA is responsible – under license from Messe Frankfurt – for conducting all the company’s events in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has developed into one of the most dynamic economic regions in Central Asia. Strong investment growth, far-reaching reforms, and diverse industrial sectors are making the country into an attractive market and an ideal location for new trade fairs as well. Central Asia is rapidly modernizing its cities and infrastructure. In Uzbekistan alone, there are more than 57,000 active companies, many of which in construction, engineering, and urban development. For international companies, it is a new market with long-term growth potential and high demand for solutions in energy efficiency, water management, and building security.

The next edition of Light + Building will take place March 8-13, 2026 in Frankfurt am Main.
