The LHRC Announces Online Lighting Courses for 2026
With health and wellness among the most-requested topics at many educational sessions in the design community, the Light and Health Research Center (LHRC) – part of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York – has launched two additional certification courses in response to the sessions’ popularity last year.
These two online professional certificate courses are interactive and led by LHRC faculty and staff who are the foremost experts in their fields. Courses begin in September, and registration for the classes is now open.
Dan Frering, the LHRC’s Education Program director noted, “Previous sessions of these courses have been highly rated by participants.” One attendee of last year’s light and health course commented, “This was an excellent course, and the instructors were extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this to anyone working in the lighting field.”

Online Professional Certificate Course in Lighting Design
September 10, 2026 – November 12, 2026
This 10-week online professional certificate course in lighting design provides the knowledge and skills needed to help those in professions related to lighting to begin or improve their practice in architectural lighting design for a wide variety of interior and exterior spaces. Online Certificate Course in Light and Human Health
September 23, 2026 – October 21, 2026
This 5-week online, interactive certificate course provides a solid understanding of the latest research about the interaction between light and human health, as well as information on how to use the power of light to improve health and wellbeing in schools, offices, hospitals, homes and other settings.
