MaxLite Launches MeshConnect USB-C Wireless Controls Platform for OEMs
The new independently operated platform, built on MaxLite’s proven c-Max technology, gives fixture manufacturers a production-ready path to intelligent controls.
MeshConnect LLC has launched as an independently operated wireless lighting controls platform that brings patented USB-C and audio-jack plug-and-play sensor technology to fixture manufacturers. Incubated by MaxLite and built on its c-Max controls platform – which has been used in countless deployments spanning commercial, industrial, retail, hospitality, education, and outdoor application – MeshConnect enables OEM partners to add simple controls such as occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting and dimming to advanced solutions like remote monitoring and dashboarding to their product lines without building proprietary controls infrastructure.
As the global lighting controls market continues to grow at double-digit rates – driven by tightening energy codes, smart building mandates, and rising demand for energy efficiency – controls capability is becoming a baseline expectation for fixture manufacturers. Yet for many, the path forward has meant choosing between costly multi-year in-house development, dependency on certain proprietary ecosystems, or generic components with no upgrade path. MeshConnect is designed to eliminate that trade-off.
“MeshConnect represents the next chapter in our commitment to making intelligent lighting controls accessible to the broader industry,” said Yon Sung, owner and CEO of MaxLite. “To lead this effort, we have appointed Umesh Baheti as Managing Director of MeshConnect. Umesh built our c-Max platform from the ground up and is uniquely positioned to bring this technology to the wider market.”
“We know firsthand what it takes to build a controls platform. MaxLite invested years of engineering and significant capital to develop c-Max,” said Baheti, who also serves as MaxLite’s SVP of New Technologies. “MeshConnect exists so that other fixture manufacturers don’t have to make that same investment. They get a complete integration package along with ‘MeshConnect Compatible’ co-branding rights, while keeping full ownership of their fixture business, their customers, and their brand.”
The platform is anchored by a patented connector interface that supports both power and high-speed data in a compact, reversible form factor. Sensors install easily with DIY approach. Above the connector, MeshConnect is protocol-agnostic as it is compatible with BLE, Proprietary Bluetooth, Bluetooth NLC, Sub-GHz, and DALI-2 -and already integrates with advanced network partners including Autani, Casambi and Silvair. The controls portfolio scales from basic stand-alone sensing to enterprise-grade networked systems and connects to the building management platforms that project owners already use.
Supported by the IP portfolio, MeshConnect provides OEM partners with components such as USB-C and audio jack ports, certified sensor hardware, and the software integration layer needed to bring intelligent controls to market quickly. The platform operates independently, with its own commercial terms and partner relationships.
“Our vision is to make USB-C the industry leading plug-and-play connector for lighting controls,” Baheti stated. “The technology supports firmware updates, connectivity-agnostic protocols, mesh networking, and IoT use cases well beyond lighting. MeshConnect gives manufacturers a way to stay ahead of the curve without diverting resources from their core business.”
MeshConnect can be used by fixture manufacturers across a wide variety of segments who are looking to add controls capability to their product lines.
MaxLite is exhibiting at LEDucation this week at Booth 322.
