BC Hydro Joins the Light and Health Research Center for 2024

The Light and Health Research Center (LHRC) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City is pleased to announce that BC Hydro, an electric utility serving British Columbia, Canada, has joined the LHRC’s Lighting Energy Partnership for 2024.

“BC Hydro is very happy to support the LHRC’s energy partnership and develop LED lighting, advanced controls and new load management measures and strategies to achieve our energy conservation targets and reduce capacity restraints in our grid,” said Dr. Cristian Suvagau, BC Hydro’s Team Lead for Conservation & Energy Management Engineering.

The LHRC’s Lighting Energy Partnership is a collaboration among utilities, energy market transformation groups, and government agencies interested in promoting energy-effective and demand-responsive use of lighting.

“We are thrilled about this new collaboration with BC Hydro, especially for the Canadian perspective they bring to energy issues,” said Jennifer Brons, coordinator for the Lighting Energy Partnership.

The LHRC’s Lighting Energy Partnership’s mission is to maximize the biological benefits per unit of electricity to reduce lighting’s negative impact on the environment.

BC Hydro is a publicly owned utility that generates and delivers electricity to over five million people in British Columbia, Canada.
