Pharos Sets Scene for Special Gym Experience
Pharos Architectural Controls has played a key role in creating a unique and unforgettable gym experience at Transform Gym in Boulder, Colorado.
The gym’s offering focusses on group training sessions in a nightclub-style setting, which is achieved using decadent illuminations that pulsate to the beat of the accompanying workout music – creating scenes that motivate and entertain gym-goers.
Transform Gym owner Beth Bedingfield engaged the services of Prizm by American Lighting to bring her vision of experiential lighting to life in her new facility. In a recent article with LD&A, Beth said: “I had seen similar things during my time in Los Angeles and knew the impact the right lighting could have in adding to the experience of the class and creating more of a party-like atmosphere.”
Prizm by American Lighting collaborated closely with Beth, along with the construction team and the specifier, to scope the best choice of products to bring the dynamic and vibrant vision to life. Together they decided on utilising forty runs of Prizm Lighting’s DMX512 digital pixel RGBW linear tape suspended from the ceiling in a web-like pattern above the studio.
As the project evolved, the control requirements for the lighting quickly escalated to nearly eight DMX universes. To ensure seamless digital integration, where the AV system served as the primary interface for the owner and operators, there was only one technology partner Prizm Lighting trusts: Pharos. Their solution provided the flexibility and power necessary to transform the space with vibrant lighting effects that elevate the entire workout experience.
The solution included two Pharos Designer LPC 4s controlling the full audio-visual experience through seamless integration with the QSC Q-SYS platform. The LPC (Lighting Playback Controller) is an award-winning, all-in-one control solution for themed entertainment and LED lighting installations. It features individually controllable and independently running timelines and scenes, letting you build dynamic, precise, fully customizable pre-programmed lighting effects with the freedom of real-time manual overrides and the versatility of powerful show control and integration features.
Jordan D. Ferree from Prizm by American Lighting, said: “The controls integrate with the AV system and oversee the different programs, including an ambient and static white light option with the static color scenes, all the way through to the dynamic color change effects that ‘dance’ to the beat and tempo of the music. The instructors have ultimate control, via a tablet that enables them to change the effects and music choices as required.”
