North Light Installation at Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, WA

Climate Pledge Arena, found at Seattle Center, is a complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. It is an industry first, including being the first net zero (no greenhouse gas emissions or offsets its emissions) certified arena in the world. It makes sense why artists, Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan, tasked with creating stunning environmental art at the arena chose to use GVA Lighting fixtures.

The North Light installation at Climate Pledge Arena is a stunning piece of art that combines dynamic lighting from GVA Lighting with a celebration of the city’s rich history and culture.

Designed by the Seattle-based duo, Haddad and Drugan, the installation features a kaleidoscope of colors that change nightly to reflect the events taking place within the arena.

Whether it’s an NHL game or a rock concert, North Light’s colors and projections supply a captivating visual spectacle using GVA Lighting’s FL series flood lights,in conjunction with a gobo projector, that is sure to leave audiences spellbound. The revolving octopus’s eye, green and yellow whirlwind, and rainbow washes coupled with a yellow spotlight are just a few examples of the stunning visual effects that can be seen.

The installation incorporates colors and images inspired by Seattle Center’s rich history and team identities, making it a unique piece of public art. North Light’s programming is tied to the city’s cultural calendar. It is meant to always reflect the pulse of the community.
