Sabin Expands Acoustic Light Options with Third‑Party Engine Integration

Sabin's Light by Others line allows for third-party installation in most of its lines, including LAYER by Sabin.

Sabin’s new Light By Others program gives contractors and project teams a practical way to integrate acoustic fixtures without disrupting existing lighting plans. Instead of forcing a redesign or introducing mismatched ceiling elements, Light By Others allows designers to integrate third‑party light engines within the company’s acoustic product platforms, providing more flexibility when conditions change or existing luminaires need to stay in place.

This approach is especially useful in tenant improvements, where lighting is often installed before acoustics are considered. Light By Others helps contractors avoid friction by aligning with real‑world sequencing rather than idealized design workflows.

Sabin also removes a major coordination burden. Once the design team selects a preferred light engine, Sabin sources the components, referencing cut sheets and manufacturer drawings to confirm compatibility before production starts. That means installers receive a preverified package instead of having to troubleshoot fit, mounting, or thermal issues in the field. For contractors juggling tight schedules and ceiling congestion, that level of pre‑work reduces risk and keeps installation predictable.

The program is available across most of Sabin’s acoustic platforms, including BLOCK and LAYER, both of which are already used in offices, education, and mixed‑use commercial spaces. Because the acoustic housing can visually align with existing cylinders or downlights, contractors can maintain a consistent ceiling design while still delivering meaningful acoustic performance.
