BEGA Expands Ultradark® Optic Offering with Two New Ceiling Luminaire Families

BEGA Ultradark Optics®

BEGA has expanded its innovative Ultradark Optics® product offering to include a surface mounted and recessed downlight. Designed for situations that require technical luminaires with the lowest possible diffuse light percentage, the BEGA Ultradark Optics® system features a combination of internal louvers and an ultra black nano coating inside the luminaire which absorbs more than 99% of the light that strikes its surface. BEGA Ultradark Optics are an ideal choice to achieve higher contrast, minimized diffuse & ambient light, and precisely directed illumination with an extremely quiet aperture.

Light defines the spatial environment, while the addition of light and shade (contrast) gives the room structure, creating an interplay between light and shadow that enables viewers to determine distances and grasp dimensions. When a space is illuminated solely with diffused light, these dimensions are more difficult to fully grasp. On the other hand, the exclusive use of directed light strongly emphasizes individual room elements, leaving any space out of the single beam in relative darkness.

BEGA Ultradark Optics brings a lighting design closer to the extreme end of highly-directed light, offering a solution for situations that demand technical luminaires with as low diffuse light percentage as possible. Our newest optical system creates a luminaire with an extremely quiet aperture, allowing the fixture to disappear into the surface where it is installed. The result is high-contrast, precisely directed illumination that emphasizes specific elements, rather than overall illumination of a space.

The system features a combination of internal louvers and an ultra black nano coating inside the luminaire which absorbs more than 99% of the light that strikes its surface, minimizing the diffuse light percentage of the luminaires while ensuring precisely-directed illumination with an extremely quiet aperture. Below we can see the effect of this technology compared to a similar luminaire utilizing BEGA Hybrid Optics®.
