WAC Group Debuts CEU Course on Shaping LED Light

WAC CEU Course 800

Port Washington, N.Y.-based WAC Group has unveiled a new CEU course: Shaping LED Light – Technology and Trends for Decorative Luminaires. This dynamic course was created to help design professionals navigate the fast-changing world of decorative LED lighting. The course earns 2 HSW CEU credits through the IDCEC and AIA.

According to the company, participants will discover how advancements in LED technology are breaking design barriers, master dimming and controls, and learn the key industry standards to support safe, high-performing, and compliant lighting choices. The session explores five major decorative lighting fixture design trends and educates attendees on the principles of layered lighting to create spaces that are visually compelling, comfortable, and functional.

Participants will also learn tips for selecting decorative fixtures to reduce project risks and bring a design vision and project plan to life. They will:

• Analyze how current and new LED and control technologies affect how well LED light fixtures perform, including the benefits of miniaturization (CSP), differentiating between dimming methods (like forward-phase vs. reverse-phase) and dimming curves (linear vs. logarithmic) and key lighting metrics (CCT, CRI, TM-30) to ensure system compatibility, lighting quality and improved user comfort.

• Recognize the critical role of key industry standards, certifications (UL/ETL), and compliance codes (e.g., ADA, Title 24, Dark Sky) that guide how LED light fixtures are chosen and installed to ensure project safety, performance, and legal compliance.

• Identify five major design trends in decorative lighting, such as using natural materials, mixed metals, and minimalist designs, and be able to explain how these trends impact material specification and fixture selection in contemporary interior design projects.

• Apply the principles of layered lighting by selecting appropriate luminaires to fulfill specific functions, such as task, accent and ambient lighting, to create spaces that are visually comfortable, safe, and functional.

• Learn tips for working with a manufacturer to specify LED light fixtures, covering technical details, system compatibility, performance measurements, and code compliance to reduce project risks and ensure the design vision is fully realized from start to finish.
