The acquistion expands the group’s manufacturing capabilities and reach into technical markets.

On November 1, ALP Lighting Components was acquired by Inteplast Group. The manufacturer of components for lighting and other technology-driven industries is now a company within Inteplast’s Sustainable Packaging & Printing Solutions (SP&PS) division. ALP Lighting Components has an office in Niles, IL, plus manufacturing facilities in Charlevoix, MI; Dickson, TN; and Monterrey, Mexico.

Andy Chen, President of SP&PS, said that ALP Lighting Components’ extensive experience in several domains is unique. In addition to lighting, ALP’s additional markets include aerospace, automotive, and medical, among others.

“ALP brings strong expertise in molding, metalizing, and engineering along with longstanding customer relationships, all of which complement SP&PS. Together, we’ll create opportunities to serve a broader range of markets. We are pleased to welcome our new colleagues to Inteplast,” Chen said.

Steve Brown, principal of Bill Brown Sales (BBS) and former owner of ALP Lighting Components, said that Inteplast’s approach to American manufacturing and innovation aligns with the vision his family has held since the company’s inception. BBS, a sales agency serving the lighting industry, was founded by Brown’s parents, Bill and Norma, in 1955. ALP was founded in 1972.

“After more than 70 years of family ownership, we wanted a partner that understood the value of what we’ve built and could position ALP for continued success,”” Brown stated. “Inteplast brings the financial strength and manufacturing expertise to support that growth.”

Adam Mayse, who will remain as president and chief operating officer of ALP Lighting Components, said the company’s capacity and product offerings will expand.

“At its heart, ALP is a family business. The Brown family chose an owner able to invest in ALP’s people and manufacturing capabilities. We look forward to the resources and extensive network that will support ALP Lighting Components’ commitment to our lighting industry associates, as well as customers in other markets that depend on our design, assembly, and engineering of quality parts,” said Mayse.

Inteplast Group President Dr. John Young called the acquisition a “new chapter.”

“We were delighted to work with Steve and his able team of colleagues in finalizing this merger, which opens a new chapter for both ALP as well as Inteplast. ALP is a family business that was started from the ground up and its excellent relationships with customers and employees will be respected and perpetuated as we move forward together into the future,” Young commented.
