Louis Poulsen Under New Ownership
For the eighth time in its history, the renowned Danish lighting manufacturer has changed hands — but now has returned to its motherland.
Considering that the iconic lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen was founded in the late 1800s, numerous changes in ownership are not unexpected. For the past eight years, the company has been owned by Milan, Italy-based Flos B&B Italia Group S.p.A., which manages a portfolio of brands including lighting companies Flos, Lumens, and Audo as well as furniture companies B&B Italia, Maxalto, Azucena, Arclinea, and FENDI Casa.
This week marked news that Flos B&B Italia Group S.p.A. has sold its entire shareholding in Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen to Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker Aktieselskab, a Danish foundation-owned investment company.

According to a statement released by Flos B&B Italia Group to shareholders, Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker is the ideal long-term home for Louis Poulsen because “it is deeply rooted in Danish culture and values and guided by a strong commitment to long-term stewardship.”
Under the ownership of Flos B&B Italia Group, Louis Poulsen delivered sustained growth, driven by expansion in the consumer channel and accelerated globalization in key markets such as the U.S. and Japan.
“Our strategy is to unlock the full potential of each of our brands, ensuring they are positioned to thrive in the best possible environment,” said Piero Gandini, Executive Chairman of Flos B&B Italia Group. “We are proud of our journey with Louis Poulsen and what we have achieved together. We believe that Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker is the perfect partner for Louis Poulsen, given its deep cultural alignment and long-term vision which will support the brand’s continued development and success in the years to come, while preserving its unique heritage.”
The proceeds from the sale will be used in compliance with the terms of Flos B&B Italia Group’s existing financial arrangements, including partial repayment of the Group’s outstanding debt. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to take place in the second half of 2026.
Lazard served as the exclusive M&A advisor to Flos B&B Italia Group on the disposal of Louis Poulsen to Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker.
