Lumens Selects Former Bed Bath & Beyond President as CEO

Architectural lighting company Flos B&B Italia Group has tapped former Bed, Bath & Beyond President Dave Nielsen as the CEO for its San Francisco-based lighting etail division Lumens – which describes itself as an “online destination for design aficionados, architects, interior designers, and contract professionals” searching for luxury lighting.

He will report to Piero Gandini, executive chairman of the Flos B&B Italia Group — the parent company for Lumens.  Nielsen brings extensive experience leading ecommerce retail businesses and will oversee the company’s growing North American presence.

“Dave’s extensive background in ecommerce marketplace businesses makes him an exceptional fit as our CEO of Lumens, especially as we enter our next phase of scaling our business to become the preferred sourcing destination for design professionals and design aficionados,” says Gandini. “His team leadership, ecommerce expertise, operational discipline and financial stewardship will build on the already strong momentum at Lumens and complement the exceptional team we have in place. In welcoming Dave, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cristina Miller for her talent, dedication, and leadership in guiding the company through a pivotal transition period as Interim CEO.”

Most recently, Nielsen was president of Beyond, Inc., where in addition to Bed, Bath & Beyond, he led teams at Overstock and Payless ShoeSource.

“I’m thrilled to be joining this exceptional team at Lumens,” noted Nielsen. “With a curated portfolio of more than 400 luxury brands across the lighting and home furnishings categories, Lumens occupies a distinctive space in the market, large enough to serve the needs of the design professional and the design-obsessed customer alike. This positioning aligns with the Flos B&B Italia Group and creates significant opportunity for Lumens to become the preferred sourcing partner for our clients. I look forward to bringing my experience leading digital-first businesses and championing the brand’s next chapter of growth. This couldn’t be a more exciting time to join the company and collaborate with such an inspiring team.”
