The National Lighting Bureau (NLB), in partnership with the American Lighting Association (ALA) and Lighting Agora, has launched Simply Light — a new educational initiative designed to demystify complex lighting terms using everyday language.

“By introducing this much-needed simple lighting vocabulary for the everyday users of Lighting, we can educate many non-lighting professionals with these concise and informative videos presented by top industry experts. Stay tuned for more outstanding modules — and spread the word! It’s Simply Light!” states Mary Beth, chair of the NLB.

“The National Lighting Bureau is proud to work with our program partners to provide Simply Light free for the benefit of our industry and the general public. It is one of a number of collaborative programs with other like-minded organizations that the NLB will be launching in 2025 and beyond,” adds Tom Butters, NLB’s executive director.

Simply Light features experienced and respected lighting professionals who break down essential concepts in simple, relatable terms. The first four videos in the series include:

• Mark Roush (Experience Light) “What is Color

• Jason Livingston (JL Studio Design) “Color Temperature”

• Jason Livingston (JL Studio Design) “Color Rendering Index”

• Tom Butters (The Lighting Agora) “Lumens”

These videos are now available on the NLB website and YouTube channel.

Simply Light will continue to release new educational content throughout the year as this program continues to grow, helping both industry professionals and the general public better understand lighting concepts while promoting lighting excellence.
