SESCO Lighting Acquires Smith Lighting Sales, Expands Into Oklahoma

Maitland, Fla.-based SESCO Lighting, Inc., and Smith Lighting Sales, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, will join forces to become one company, expanding SESCO’s footprint into Oklahoma. While some additions and business vertical engagements will begin immediately, the official transition will take place on January 1. This move will combine the existing resources and the 570+ employees of SESCO Lighting with the Smith Lighting teams in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Smith Lighting Sales, founded in December 1969 by Bob Smith, has a long and successful history. In 1999, Eric Stewart started with Smith Lighting and has since led the company to continued success.

“Our organization was founded over 55 years ago on the principles that Bob Smith held important, especially the slogan that ‘There is nothing more important that the very best for our clients.’ SESCO Lighting’s customer-first philosophy is simply stated, ‘If there is a problem with a SESCO product that you specified or we supplied, we will fix it…period!’ SESCO’s customer-first philosophy will carry the values of our founder and our team into the next 50 years. We could not be more excited to have our organization join with SESCO to serve the lighting and controls industry in Oklahoma far into the future,” stated Eric Stewart.

President and CEO of SESCO Lighting, John Palk, noted, “We are honored to announce that Smith Lighting Sales is coming into the SESCO family. Growing up in our company, I have heard many stories over the years about Smith Lighting as the founders of both Smith Lighting and SESCO worked together in agent councils going back nearly 50 years ago. As the industry’s landscape has changed over the last few decades, the resilient and adaptable style that the Smith Lighting team has led with resembles much of our own. The dedication to the Oklahoma market and their clients through these changes confirmed to me that Eric and the team at Smith Lighting would be a great fit for our employee-owned culture. We look forward to quickly adding to the foundation in place as well as growing our presence in key business verticals which SESCO supports across our footprint. The opportunity to support the clients and manufacturer partners in Oklahoma with the

same great service they are used to while adding more resources is something I look forward to.”
