Cyclone Lighting Wins Red Dot Award for Mochi Streetlight

Outdoor lighting manufacturer Cyclone Lighting has announced that its Mochi luminaire received a Red Dot Design Award for Product Design.

Mochi’s nature-inspired silhouette departs from traditional dome styling, bringing a softness to urban settings while delivering exceptional lighting performance. Its design extends to its operating mechanism: a seamlessly integrated cast aluminum push-button latch that provides one-handed access to the driver for easy replacement. An innovative hinge also allows the luminaire to remain open for maintenance without needing an additional security system.

Mochi’s advanced lighting system offers precise illumination for projects where safety is a priority, including city and residential streets, commercial buildings, transit, urban parks, waterfront pathways, or bike paths. Project designers can choose from more than 14 light distribution types, including backward optics. Additional versatility comes from the Orion light engine’s orientable optics, which can be oriented by increments of 90 degrees. Designers can combine two distribution types within a single light engine.

Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions and its Red Dot Label is one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design. As many as 50 international experts from different specialist areas are invited to test, discuss, and assess each product individually, awarding aesthetically appealing, functional, smart, or innovative products.
