Sonepar to Acquire Shaw Supply

Charleston, S.C.-based Sonepar’s Midwest subsidiary Echo Electric has entered into an agreement to acquire Shaw Supply, a full-line electrical distributor located in Kansas City, Missouri. A family-owned business since 1957, Shaw Supply brings more than 30 associates to Echo Electric and strengthens their presence in the greater Kansas City market and western Missouri.

“Shaw Supply has built a remarkable business grounded in hard work and exceptional service,” said Chris Scarbrough, President of Echo Electric. “They have invested in their associates’ technical expertise in order to offer personalized service and the best possible solutions to customers. We are excited to welcome their talented associates and look forward to combining our strengths to deliver even greater value, service, and expertise throughout the Kansas City market.”

Current co‑owners of Shaw Supply, Brian and Patrick Shaw, stated, “Our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the level of service and responsiveness that our customers rely on, a commitment that has driven our growth over the years. Joining Echo Electric allows us to provide our associates with expanded opportunities and enhance the capabilities we offer to customers. We could not be more optimistic about the future.”

The acquisition marks another milestone in Echo Electric’s strategic plan to create a single platform across the Midwest. In 2025 Echo unified five distinct operations under the Echo brand for a total footprint that covers ten states and 500,000 square miles. The distributor has also been expanding a suite of specialized services, including quick-ship switchboards and panelboards, substation packaging and sourcing, and industrial solutions like network assessments.

The acquisition is expected to close at the end of March.
