Urban Rooftop Oasis
Strategic lighting helps set the vibe for this Latin America-inspired rooftop restaurant and bar.
The goal of the restaurateurs behind the AZOTEA rooftop restaurant and bar in Leeds, U.K. was to create a setting where guests can “leave the ordinary behind and step into a world alive with vibrant energy, irresistible rhythms and tropical flavors.”
The lighting plan was designed to enhance the relaxed yet lively atmosphere, which includes authentic Latin cuisine, music, dancing, and live performances in the nighttime hours. Lucent Lighting was selected to provide the luminaires for the curated lighting scheme designed by Mistry Lighting.
Perched 12 floors above the city streets with a panoramic view, AZOTEA’s rooftop design evokes the look of classic haciendas with a contemporary feel for a “vibrant destination where food, music, and atmosphere come together.”
The lighting design was central to shaping the desired ambiance. Working closely with both Mistry Lighting and Studio Two, Lucent Lighting supplied a flexible and discreet lighting solution that enhances the architectural character while supporting the venue’s dynamic day-to-night transformation.
The combination of Mains voltage track and Lucent Tube LED Mini luminaires provide adaptable, precision-focused illumination across key social and dining areas. The addition of Tube LED Mini monopoints further enhances focal lighting moments by drawing attention to feature areas. To complement surfaces and architectural detailing, Vista mini wall lights introduce soft washes that enrich texture and depth, reinforcing the sense of intimacy within the open rooftop environment. Meanwhile, EDGE90 Pinhole fittings, finished in a custom RAL, are integrated discreetly to maintain a clean ceiling plane while delivering precise illumination that supports both circulation and mood.
