Illumination and Power Kit from Landscape Forms Delivers Seamless Integration of Light and Power

Landscape Forms

Landscape Forms has introduced the Illumination and Power Kit, a solution for integrating power, mobile charging and lighting into three of our most widely specified solutions — MultipliCITY, Bancal and Parallel 42.

Featuring options for 120V GFCI receptacles, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and warm under-bench lighting, addresses the modern needs of outdoor users while enhancing ambiance and extending the usability of public spaces.

“There are certain elements in outdoors spaces that draw people towards them,” Director of Design at Landscape Forms, Ryan Heiser. “We’ve long understood elements like shade and water features to have this effect, and now power is another one — people crave the ability to plug in and recharge outdoors.”

Initially available on MultipliCITY benches, Bancal benches and Parallel 42 seating modules, the Illumination and Power Kit comes in three configurations to tailor its functionality: Lighting only, GFCI/USB only, and combined Lighting and GFCI/USB.

“Illumination and Power Kit was born out of listening to our clients and understanding the real need for a solution like this that exists in the market,” continues Heiser. “Previously, when we’ve created integrated charging and lighting solutions for our landscape architect customers or for municipalities, facilities or campuses, it’s been a custom job. So in this new offering, we’re removing some of those pain points by creating an easy-to-hook-up, standard option from Landscape Forms. And so far, the initial reaction from our customers has been amazing.”

The design, lighting technology and integration method behind the Illumination and Power Kit draw on Landscape Forms’ extensive expertise in custom solutions through its Studio 431 and Specials division. Now part of the company’s standard offering, these highly desirable solutions play a key role in lending outdoor spaces a magnetic quality that pulls people in and invites them to stay.

“For the lighting aspect in particular, it’s about creating those warm, inviting moments that draw people in,” says Landscape Forms Chief Innovation Officer, Kirt Martin. “I liken it to how you experience a living room — if you just have overhead can lights, it’s not as inviting compared to a room with table lamps and accent lighting and mood lighting. The strategy is the same outdoors. It creates a much more inviting experience to augment the big area lights and path lights, for example, with pieces in the site that offer a warm, ambient glow.”
