Capital Electric Awards 2 Scholarships to Seniors
The scholarships were awarded to two graduating high school seniors enrolling in a college or a vocational school.
Capital Electric, a Sonepar company located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, has announced the winners of its Inclusion Scholarship, an annual program that supports graduating seniors in the Mid-Atlantic region. Capital awarded two scholarships of $3,000 each to graduating high school seniors Cooper Hardy of Charleston, South Carolina, and Lucas Salmeron of Edgewood, Maryland.
“Every year we’re inspired by the essays students submit to the program. They’re passionate about contributing to communities where everyone feels welcome and has the tools and opportunities to succeed. That drive for inclusion mirrors the values we aim to live out as a company and the positive impact we want to have on the communities where we live and work,” said Brendan O’Hare, President of Capital Electric.
This year, Capital Electric invited applicants to consider an inclusion challenge they have observed and propose a solution to improve fairness and respect in their school or community.
“The students’ responses were rooted in real-world challenges they have seen firsthand and offered practical steps towards a more inclusive school environment,” said O’Hare.
Now in its fourth year, Capital Electric’s Inclusion Scholarship aims to empower individuals attending university or a trade school. The application is open to graduating high school students in the District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
