Urbidermis’ Candela Redesign Delivers Flexible, Field-Ready Area Light

urbidermis Candela lights, available from Landscape Forms, line a street

Urbidermis’ latest redesign of its Candela area light, distributed in North America by Landscape Forms, keeps its signature slim oval profile but updates the fixture’s optical options, mounting configurations and field practicality in ways contractors will notice immediately.

The updated Candela platform supports multiple pole heights ranging from 16 to 30 feet, along with single, back‑to‑back and staggered arm configurations. That flexibility allows one family to cover plazas, walkways, parking areas and mixed‑use streetscapes without juggling multiple product lines. Optical distributions now include Type II, III and IV, paired with LED engines available in 48‑, 72‑ and 96‑LED configurations. Color temperatures at 3000K and 4000K, along with consistent color rendering, help meet municipal, campus and commercial standards without special‑order complexity.

A key feature of the redesign is increased durability, with its IP66 rating for protection against dust and high‑pressure water and an IK08 impact rating, important for public‑realm environments where equipment, weather and daily wear can take a toll. A tempered glass lens, polymer gaskets and stainless steel hardware contribute to long‑term reliability in exterior conditions.

Installation remains straightforward and contractor‑friendly. Candela ships in two components — the light head and the mounting accessory — which simplifies handling on lifts and reduces awkward overhead positioning. The mounting system adapts to round or square poles and includes internal leveling adjustments, giving crews more control when foundations or pole interfaces aren’t perfectly true.
