Luminaire LED Offers Ligature-Resistant Recessed Downlight

Luminaire LED VRDL

Luminaire LED, an Acuity Brands company, has launched the VRDL recessed downlight that features a ligature-resistant construction suitable for behavioral institutions and vandal-prone areas. The VRDL recessed downlight is certified to IP66, IK10 and NSF2.

The VRDL recessed downlight utilizes an improved design to enhance its ligature resistance. This is achieved through a patent-pending “curl” along the inner edge of the lens opening, creating a mechanically interlocking labyrinth for enhanced security—while still preserving the serene ambiance and clean, attractive aesthetic of a traditional downlight.

Optional integrated nLight® controls make each fixture addressable – allowing it to digitally communicate with other nLight enabled controls such as dimmers, switches, occupancy sensors, and photocontrols.

The downlight is available in static white in 1800K, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K in either 80CRI or 90CRI standard. An optional red LED is available.

Features

  • 4″ and 6″ mud-in solution is available with patent pending flanged or flangeless (GB) trim
  • Impact resistant polycarbonate lens with 0.25″ nominal thickness
  • If IP66 rating is required, no-pick caulk (or vandal resistant equivalent caulk) is recommended
  • Lens and trim secured with tamper resistant center pin reject TORX fasteners to prevent intrusion and mitigate ligature
