Hydrel SAF Aurora Adds Refined Gradient Control to Platform
Hydrel, a brand in the Acuity Brands Lighting portfolio, has expanded its SAF floodlight options with SAF Aurora, a patent‑pending lighting technique that blends wash and graze from a single luminaire. The dual‑beam approach produces refined vertical gradients with soft transitions, crisp edges, and layered depth, supporting façade and structural illumination across bridges, underdecks, transit hubs, terminals, ceilings, and canopies.
Integrated into the SAF7A, SAF14A, and SAF28A platforms, SAF Aurora uses engineered overlays that stack asymmetric accent and grazing beams to create controlled vertical gradients. Three distributions – narrow, medium, and wide – address varied architectural conditions. Narrow provides the sharpest gradient definition for columns and compact façades; medium balances coverage for midscale elevations; wide delivers broad, seamless gradients for expansive surfaces while maintaining clarity and consistency.
Flow‑thru design separates the optical chamber and driver to reduce heat and moisture accumulation, while Taper‑Lock technology maintains aiming integrity through rugged knuckle and yoke configurations. RGBW Quad Tech ensures color mixing under each optic without striations or separation, and Power Scaling driver technology allows each channel to reach its highest possible wattage and output. These capabilities align with ABL’s emphasis on optical precision, structural integrity, and long‑term reliability across its outdoor brands.
All three models support mounting flexibility across ground, wall, pole, stanchion, and pedestal applications and carry IP68 ratings. The products are also assembled in America, complying with Buy America(n) and BABA procurement requirements.
