Eaton Introduces Motion Sensors for Smarter, Energy-Saving Lighting Control

Eaton Occupancy and Vacancy Motion Sensors

Eaton expanded its residential controls portfolio with a new family of motion sensors designed to provide intelligent, energy-saving lighting control for residential applications. The OS306A Occupancy Sensor and VS306M Vacancy Sensor introduce extended detection capability, streamlined installation, and intuitive programming, giving electricians and homeowners a dependable solution for hands‑free lighting control across frequently used spaces.

Both sensors feature a reduced‑depth profile that fits cleanly into standard wall boxes, making them suitable for both new construction and retrofits. The updated electronics extend coverage up to 1,000 square feet, allowing the sensors to perform reliably in larger rooms, long hallways, and open‑concept layouts. Passive infrared detection with a 180‑degree field of view ensures consistent response to movement, while integrated ambient light sensing prevents lights from turning on when natural daylight is sufficient.

The OS306A Occupancy Sensor automatically turns lights on when motion is detected and off when a space becomes vacant, offering a simple way to reduce wasted energy in high‑traffic areas. The VS306M Vacancy Sensor requires manual activation but automatically switches lights off when the room is empty, making it a solid option for bedrooms and bathrooms. Both models support configurable motion sensitivity, allowing installers to finetune performance based on room size, layout, and expected activity.

A push‑button interface replaces traditional adjustment dials, making setup fast and intuitive. Color‑matched lenses and interchangeable color change kits help the sensors blend into a wide range of interior styles, maintaining a clean, integrated appearance. The devices meet IECC and California Title 24 requirements, supporting projects focused on energy codes and long‑term efficiency.
