Kenall Expands MedMaster Pillow Family for Behavioral Health Environments

Kenall Lighting has expanded its MedMaster Pillow family with a new recessed luminaire engineered specifically for behavioral healthcare environments. The fixture extends the collection’s architectural design language into spaces where lighting must balance aesthetics, security, and functionality while contributing to a more welcoming patient experience.

Designed for over-bed patient room applications, the luminaire is available in both 2’×2′ and 2’×4′ configurations. A full backlit LED array and concave diffuser work together to create a refined illuminated surface with smooth, uniform light distribution. Ambient, reading, and exam modes allow the fixture to support multiple lighting tasks from a single luminaire, helping accommodate changing patient and caregiver needs throughout the day.

Security-focused design elements are incorporated throughout the luminaire. Optional flush, countersunk fasteners with a concealed Torx interface minimize visible hardware, while continuous lens retention and tamper- and ligature-resistant features address the unique demands of behavioral healthcare settings without compromising the fixture’s architectural appearance.

The fixture is also designed for long-term reliability in demanding healthcare environments. An impact-resistant polycarbonate lens, sealed construction, and standard IP65 and NSF2 ratings support durability and ease of maintenance. Optional tunable white technology provides additional flexibility by allowing caregivers to adjust lighting conditions to align with patient care objectives and clinical requirements.
