RAB’s VAL Delivers Flexible Outdoor Lighting at a Budget-Friendly Price

Outdoor lighting projects often require balancing budget, performance, and flexibility, especially when site conditions or customer requirements change late in the process. With that challenge in mind, RAB Lighting developed the VAL field-adjustable post top, a value-focused area light designed to simplify product selection while delivering the performance and durability expected in a broad range of outdoor applications.

Designed for walkways, courtyards, campuses, parking lots, and corporate parks, VAL combines field-adjustable wattage and color temperature settings within a single fixture platform. The luminaire can be configured in the field at 40W, 65W, 100W, or 113W and offers selectable 3000K, 4000K, and 5000K color temperatures.

Depending on the selected settings, VAL delivers between 6,385 and 18,637 lumens with efficacy reaching up to 181.7 lm/W. A Type V distribution provides broad, uniform illumination with 360-degree coverage, helping to create consistent lighting across pedestrian pathways and open outdoor spaces. The fixture is available in four finish options, allowing it to blend into a variety of architectural and landscape designs.

VAL is also designed to support evolving control requirements. The luminaire is compatible with 0-10V dimming and dim-to-off operation and can accommodate sensor and wireless control accessories, including Lightcloud Blue networked lighting controls. This control-ready approach enables projects to incorporate occupancy sensing, scheduling, and other energy-management strategies when desired.

VAL features an IP65-rated die-cast aluminum housing engineered to withstand challenging environmental conditions. The fixture also incorporates 10kV surge protection and a 3G vibration rating for installations in areas exposed to traffic and vibration.
