DMF Lighting Expands Retrofit Capabilities with 8″ to 4″ Conversion Kit

DMF Lighitng 8" to 4" Retrofit Conversion Kit

DMF Lighting introduced its new 8″ to 4″ Retrofit Conversion Kit, giving installers a practical way to update larger legacy recessed housings without disturbing finished ceilings. The system allows installers to use existing wiring to convert 6‑8 inch round housings to DMF’s modular 4‑inch architectural platform. The kit builds on DMF’s previous 6‑inch retrofit offering by accommodating larger housings and supporting high‑lumen adjustable LED modules.

Designed for renovation and modernization projects, the conversion kit supports both IC and non-IC applications and works with industry standard housings that provide at least 50 cubic inches of volume. It integrates cleanly with DMF’s M Series modular light engine modules and trim families and with the H Series 4-inch flanged modules and trims, allowing existing recessed installations to be upgraded. An installation collar helps ensure a secure, flush fit.

Multiple lumen packages offer up to 1,500 lumens for IC applications and 3,500 lumens for non‑IC. Color temperatures include 2400K through 4000K and Warm Dim, all at 93 CRI with 2‑step MacAdam color consistency. Deep die‑cast aluminum trims are available in multiple styles and finishes, including custom RAL options.

Embedded drivers within the light engine modules allow below‑ceiling access for maintenance, eliminating the need to enter the plenum. Quick‑connect electrical connections enable modules to be replaced from below the ceiling, and two driver options support different lumen packages: an embedded module driver for standard outputs and a touch‑safe detachable driver for higher‑lumen non‑IC applications.

The system delivers smooth, flicker‑free dimming to 1 percent and below with most 0‑10 volt or TRIAC/ELV controls. Downlight and adjustable modules are available, with adjustable versions offering 360‑degree rotation and 45‑degree tilt. Toolless, field‑changeable optics allow beam distribution to be tailored onsite, with options ranging from narrow 15‑degree beams to wide 90‑degree spreads, plus linear spread and soft focus distributions.
