Focal Point Releases High-performance Acoustic Luminaire for Ceiling and Wall Applications

Focal Point Polina

Focal Point introduces Polina™, a cutting-edge luminaire that seamlessly integrates high-performance lighting with exceptional sound dampening. Designed to meet the growing need for integrated systems that provide architectural grade lighting and superior noise mitigation, Polina delivers both in a sophisticated geometric form.

Polina’s distinctive soft-cornered hexagonal shape, available in nominal diameters of 27” and 42”, adds understated beauty to any space. Polina transforms ceilings and walls into luminous, sound-absorbing design elements, offering a flexible integrated system that enhances both aesthetics and functionality. Polina extends beyond traditional acoustic lighting solutions, providing specifiers with a new tool for artistic expression – creating unique designs while maintaining functional lighting and sound control.

“Polina was inspired by the iconic Marcel Breuer luminous ceiling, updated with modern high-performance acoustics and lighting,” said Star Davis, VP of Innovation & Product Development at Focal Point. “Its geometry allows for the ceiling to support spatial definition – playing with scale, density, and pattern. The softness of the fixture goes beyond the rounded edges of the form, as it also provides a quiet calm through the diffuse light and acoustic absorption.”

Performance by Design
Polina provides up to 2850 lumens of indirect ambient illumination, with a range of 2700K to 4000K color temperatures. Its sleek and minimal light engine creates a balanced and inviting atmosphere, whether installed as a single pendant, an expansive luminous array, or an elegant cluster across open ceilings and walls, paired with the acoustic companion.

The acoustic luminaire is crafted with the patent-pending TriCore™ PET felt construction, which absorbs sound across a wide range of frequencies, outperforming traditional PET felt acoustic solutions. A white interior reflector ensures optimal light distribution, while the silver-gray exterior complements a variety of interior environments.

Versatile Mounting & Remote Power Solutions
Polina is available as a pendant with field-cuttable stems or a wall mount sconce, lit or unlit. It provides a configurable solution for diverse applications, including commercial offices, higher education, or hospitality environments. With remote power distribution, multiple fixtures can be connected to a single power drop, reducing electrical complexity and streamlining installation.

Polina redefines integrated acoustic lighting, offering an alternative to conventional baffles and panels with a sculptural form that enhances interior environments. Inspired by the work of Marcel Breuer, yet built for today’s performance-driven spaces, Polina’s fusion of lighting and sound control creates an atmosphere that is visually striking and acoustically comfortable.

Feartures
